These are a couple of very unusual fleeces on lambs this year. I'm going to keep these to see how they develop. The ewe lamb on the left is an 81.25% Aron (Sweden) daughter. The ram lamb on the right is a 90.625% Fox (Sweden) son.
49 Swedish lambs were produced with artificial insemination this season. Final count with naturally bred ewes was 80 lambs.
Above and right are updated pics of the same lambs; Czarina on the left and Elgin on the right.
Czarina is named after a famous greyhound which is what she resembled as a newborn!
First load of butcher lambs went to market at 3 months old. Average weight was 74 pounds and lambs were on straight pasture.
STUDY IN RAM LAMBS.
I of course love my girls but rams have a huge impact on any flock. Therefore, I'm watching those ram lambs very closely. Here are my 90.625% ram lambs as of July 20th.
237 at birth and at 3 months.
This lamb has had 2 bouts with pnemonia and is still looking great. He is a triplet to a first time mom who gave birth at 14 months.
Sire is Fox (Sweden). Dam is a Ralph (NZ) daughter
Above are 245 & 246 -twin Shaun sons (Sweden). 246 (R) has the tighter locks more typical of the NZ fleeces which I LOVE. These boys have white on their faces which is still acceptable with GSBANA but I was going to pass on them for breeding. Looking at the gorgeous fleeces is changing my mind. These boys are out of a Ralph (NZ) daughter.
Left are two Fox (Sweden) sons. On the left rear is 237 and 230 is on right/front. 230 was a single born ram lamb to a Hoppy (NZ) daughter.
Below is 237 at birth. Not a good looking lamb then but he developed into one of my favorites
279 is a deep black ram lamb with no hint of grey. he is a Shaun (Sweden) son out of a Flash (NZ) daughter. He has a single white star on top of his head. He has a stunning fleece.
